Biography: Robert Dean Silva Burnquist (AKA Bob) is a wondrous skater, originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Bob grew up in Sao Palo, Brazil, and started skating when he was 11. He constantly challenges himself by skating switchstance, which he says "is like learning to skate all over again." Unfortunately, Bob seems to get injured a lot, but he gets up and keeps at it. He skated in the 1998 X-Games with a fractured wrist, not getting a cast on until after the prelims were over. Thrasher magazine named him the 1997 Skater of the Year, the same year he won the overall Triple Crown vert award. He was one of Rolling Stone magazine's athletes of the year for 1999. Bob also surfs and snowboards, and he loves soccer.
Medals: X-Games: 2001 vert - Gold; 1999 vert - 7th, vert doubles (with Lincoln Ueda) - 4th; 1998 vert - 5th, vert doubles (with Lincoln Ueda) - Bronze; 1997 vert - Bronze, street - ; 1996 vert - 13th.Slam City Jam: 1998 vert - 6th. TripleCrown: 1998 vert - 1st, doubles (with Max Schaaf) 2nd. Slam City Jam 1999 vert - 3rd.
Teamed with Max Schaaf for skateboarding doubles at the X-Games in 1997, colliding in mid-air during their run. At the '98 X-Games, Bob teamed with fellow Brazilian Lincoln Ueda, where they captured the Bronze medal.
